Teaching skeleton donations
The Harry Brookes Allen Museum of Anatomy and Pathology is able to receive donations of human skeletal material previously used in medical education. The Harry Brookes Allen Museum is one of the few institutions that can legally receive these kinds of human remains, and we incorporate them into our current teaching and museum collections. If you would like to donate skeletal material, you will need to bring it to the museum and sign a statutory declaration. To organise a donation, please get in touch with our curator.
Body donor program
The Department of Anatomy and Physiology at the University of Melbourne co-ordinates a Body Donor Program for the purposes of anatomical examination and the teaching and study of anatomy.
Bodies that have been donated to the program are used in the education and training of future healthcare professionals including medical, dental, physiotherapy, science and nursing students and are also used for the advanced training of surgeons and other specialists.
